Our Organic Coconut Oil is expeller pressed from the organic fruit of the coconut palm (Cocos nucifera). It is not refined, bleached or deodorized, thus retains the distinct flavor and odor of coconut. Both refined and unrefined coconut oil are rich in antioxidants and contain the same amount of the beneficial lauric fatty-acid containing antiviral, antifungal, and antibacterial properties. However, the unrefined oil is richer in phytonutrients than refined coconut oil.
Choose unrefined coconut oil if you desire the fullest coconut flavor and the most phytonutrients. Pure coconut oil also makes a luscious and soothing massage and body oil or lotion for dry skin. It is also ideal as a medium heat cooking oil and a healthy substitute for shortening in baking- a "better-than-butter" replacement. It's delicious in baked good recipes, and they will have a lightness that you just can't get with butter.
Packaging: The 8 oz and 16 oz Coconut Oils are packaged in clear glass creme jars and the 1 gallon sizes are packaged in high-density polyethylene (HDPE) containers, both featuring a tight-fitting, white metal lid with seal to help protect contents from moisture and air. The 5 gallon Coconut Oils are packaged in polypropylene round pails with lid (with tab and gasket). Storage: Store in a cool, dry place, and avoid direct sunlight and heat. Preserving Oils: If stored improperly for long periods of time, the oils may become rancid. They have a minimum 2 year shelf life when stored properly. When making products with vegetable oils, you can also add 2% Vitamin E Oil to act as a natural preservative. Warning:
